Join FASNA

FASNA is the only organisation that looks after the interests of academies, foundation, trust and voluntary aided schools. We have two priorities:

  • to support and advise members
  • to lobby all political parties on their behalf

Support takes the form of newsletters, email alerts, dedicated website members’ area, training seminars and e-mail/phone advice – all focused on the areas of responsibility unique to these schools, eg admissions, governance, employment and site ownership. We have, collectively, significant experience in the running of these schools, which is why the DfE use us to help schools change category to foundation and trust. Because we are the only organisation with this knowledge we are even asked by LAs for advice.

We see lobbying of Government as vital in defending the autonomy of our schools, and because we have the confidence and respect of ministers and senior civil servants we have access to the decision makers and have been successful in influencing policy. We also meet the education spokesmen of the major opposition parties regularly. This benefits all schools, regardless of whether they are members or not, but if we are not able to demonstrate that the large majority of these schools are members we would lose that influence, so it is important that the schools join FASNA.

Many community and voluntary controlled schools considering changing category to foundation join FASNA as associate members, which gives them access to all the resources available to full members.
